This 24 inch tall doll has a china shoulder head with a black painted covered wagon hairstyle. She has a white center part and a small spot of black paint has worn off when one of the curls on the back of her head. Her head was made, circa the 1850s, by a German porcelain factory probably Kestner. She is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. She has a very small inherent line by her painted nostril holes that I was not even able to photograph successfully since it is so small. This lovely doll has a later, but very appropriate, cloth body with sewn on brown sateen boots. She wears a white eyelet trimmed petticoat and a most fabulous cotton print dress that fits her like a glove. The period dress shows off her deep shoulder plate magnificently. This doll is unbelievably charming in person. My photographs certainly do not do her justice. My husband even said to me as I displayed this doll in an antique Lincoln child’s rocking chair, “You are keeping that doll, aren’t you?” When he says something like that, I know the doll has presence!
