SALE PENDING French Fashion Type Poupee with Bisque Arms in Wonderful Costume

This 14 inch French Fashion type poupee has blue glass eyes, a bisque shoulder head with a swivel neck and bisque shoulder plate. She also has a very sturdy kid leather body with the most gorgeous detailed bisque arms. The same style body is identified as Simonne on page 128 of Maree Tarnowska’s great book entitled “Fashion Dolls.” This doll appears to have her original blonde mohair wig and cork pate. The wig is full but not entirely in its original set as you can see from the photos. Neither the head nor the body is marked as far as I could find. The pressed head has no chips or cracks. On the right side of the head, there is some slight seam line separation that would have occurred when she was made. This is not a crack. It does not go through to the inside of the head and exactly follows the seam line. This wonderful doll wears a dress that most likely is original to her. She also has white lace trimmed underclothing including pantaloons, a petticoat, and a camisole. She has antique shoes and socks as well as a straw hat with flower trim. The ribbon trim on the hat matches the trim on the dress so is obviously part of the original ensemble. The dress has some slight wear and repair to the front probably where a doll stand has rubbed the delicate fabric.This is a stunning doll and I just can’t stop admiring the detail of the bisque arms and the overall effect of the costume and hat.
