German Oriental (Asian) Bisque Head Doll with Composition Body

This 14 inch German bisque doll has a wood and composition straight wrist amber painted body. She is incised “Made in Germany” and 2/0 on the back of her bisque socket head. Her head has no chips or cracks. She has an open mouth with teeth and set glass eyes. Her black human hair wig appears to be an original with a replaced pate. She wears antique cotton lace and eyelet trimmed underclothing and a cotton kimono with a silk obi. The kimono and obi are old and exhibit some fading of color. There is distinctive Asian modeling to the bisque head and it has an amber tint. I am not certain of the German maker; however, the “made in Germany” incised mark is similar to that found on many early Kestner dolls. I love the early Asian (Oriental) dolls and I found this one particularly charming with her old wig and kimono.
