German Bisque Bonnet Head Doll with Molded Hat

This 8 ½ inch bisque shoulder head doll has a molded and painted bonnet with painted facial features and molded blonde hair. Her cloth body is original with the original bisque lower arms and legs. She is well dressed in a cotton voile frock adorned with antique ribbon and lace. She also wears an old white petticoat and lace pantaloons. The back of her head, hair, and bonnet are molded but not painted. The back of her shoulder plate is incised with the word, “Germany.” This little darling is delicately painted. She has no chips, cracks, or hairlines. There is a tiny spot of inherent roughness right above the bow at her left ear that I believe is part of the ruffle. It is so small that I can only feel it and am unable to see damage with either a regular light or black light. I love this little girl’s chubby cheeked expression, the modeling of her original bisque arms, and her overall presentation. These dolls were made in Germany at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th.
