Flat Top China Head Doll with Great Expression and Clothing

This 24 inch china shoulderhead doll has a wonderful old cloth body and expressive face with deep modeling particularly around the eyes. She wears an antique cotton print dress and old white cotton underclothing including a camisole, pantaloons, and two petticoats. She has black socks and antique leather shoes. The shoes have been on her so long that they have somewhat molded to her feet. I did not want to damage the shoes, so I did not try to remove them. This doll has no cracks or hairlines. There are some typical areas on her black hair where the paint has worn away. She has a chip on the underside of the front left edge of her shoulder plate. It appears to be old and may have occurred when she was first created since there are no sharp edges and the discoloration on the underside of the area matches the underside of the shoulder plate. I hope you can see this from the photographs. I particularly like the body of this doll. Please notice how her hips were constructed with definite side saddlebags to create the ideal hour glass figure. The body, in sturdy condition with typical age discoloration, could easily be original to the doll. I also found her clothing to be quite appealing. This china head is definitely of German origin circa the 1860s but I have been unable to find her specific mold in any of my reference books so I am not sure of the exact maker. I love the facial detail and character look of this doll.
