She wears a lovely silk dress that, I believe, is probably original to her. The silk of the dress is starting to melt and is far too frail to remove from the doll. This 4 ¼ inch tall china head, circa the 1860s, is a lovely example by the German Kestner Doll firm. She has a hairstyle with a headband adorned with gold metallic paint. She also has very fine painted brushstrokes around the doll’s hairline. The sculpting of the hair has well delineated curls and brushstrokes.
