This 11 inch tall shoulder head boy doll has a problem that is not making him very happy. He has a fly on his face sitting near the bridge of his nose by his right eye and definitely is quite upset about the situation. He was obviously created as a novelty doll probably early in the 20th century. He has molded and painted features including furrowed eyebrows, small eyes, and a wide open mouth with molded teeth and tongue. His wig is brunette mohair. These two dolls, circa the early 1900s, have obviously been together for many years and they complement each other so well that I am going to sell them together. Each appears to be between 7 and 7 ˝ inches tall and dressed in their original finery. Both have bisque shoulder heads with set glass eyes and their original blonde mohair wigs in elaborate original set. This 17 inch tall doll has a bisque shoulder head with molded blond hair and painted facial features. The old body, possibly original, is cloth and leather with bisque lower arms and hands. The back of the head is incised “Germany//186-6.” The head is in excellent condition with not chips, cracks, or repairs. The body has some leather repairs especially at the gussets.
