Fine Silver Art Clay Pendant with Cubic Zirconias

Silver Art Clay lends itself to innovative handling and design, as can be seen in this pendant. SAC is the result of recycling the fine silver from used X-Rays, mixing the silver powder with clay binders, which become a "clay" which can then be handled as a ceramic or pottery clay is worked. It can be rolled out, imprinted with patterns, man-made stones can be embedded in the clay and fired, and when the piece is dried and fired, either with a torch or in a kiln, there is a small amount of shrinkage as the clay binders burn off, and you are left with .999 fine silver, a purer form than sterling which is .925.

This unique pendant was rolled out, a pattern was imprinted, and dark orange and yellow 3 mm cubic zirconias were embedded and secured with bezels. Flakes of Fine Silver were also added for texture. A triangle shape was removed to add to the design. The piece was dried and fired with a propane torch, after which it was satin finished and oxidized. The high points were then burnished to a mirror finish.

A Bali silver Bail and a sterling silver woven box chain were added to complete the necklace.

The chain is 17" long and the pendant is 2 1/4" high, including the bail. The reverse of the pendant shows the "diamond" scratch finish.

The necklace will arrive gift-boxed and insured.
