"Filigree Trellis" Pure (.999) Silver PMC Pendant

This piece is my original design... and is, in my view, one of the most beautiful and unusual pieces that I have ever made. It is a piece that I would absolutely keep, if I could afford to keep my own jewelry...

The pendant contains about 28 grams of pure silver, and was created using Precious Metal Clay. The pendant actually consists of two parts - a front "filigree" piece and a back "trellis" piece. The two parts were connected with pure silver wire after I created the nice color contrast (that I would not have been able to create if I had made this in a single piece). The connecting silver wire has been coiled and hammered to add a design element to the pendant.

The filigree front contains dragonflies, leaves, balls and swirls... along with stones. The back "trellis" was brought to a fabulous blue patina using liver-of-sulfur solution with ammonia, after which the high points were burnished back to bright silver (thus the "trellis" look).

The pendant measures 2 1/2" by 1 1/2". I have included a heavy 22" sterling silver figaro chain with a sterling silver heart lobster clasp.
