Jewelry with an attitude!
The focal bead (which is placed asymmetrically on the side) is a Carol Fonda / Monty Clark "Windswept" lampworked glass bead - one of the most gorgeous I have ever seen. I picked this bead up from Carol Fonda at the Bead&Button show. The dichroic pinks and greens in this bead screamed, "TOURMALINE"... so I combined multiple strands (and a variety of shapes) of tourmaline (lots of pinks and greens) into SIX strands that run through this focal bead. I added an occasional Swarovski crystal and leaf bead to the strands for interest...
The focal bead (which hangs on the right side of the necklace when you're facing it) measures 4" in length (about 1.25" at it's widest point), and it's filled with treasures - tourmaline, Swarovski, and a single opaque Swarovski simulated pearl (my one concession to an advanced instructor who suggested that I should always mix translucent and opaque).
The opening of this long, asymmetrical necklace is 24", adjustable by a couple of inches with the adjustment chain. I used gold-filled findings and lobster clasp.
This sparkler weighs in at 5.2 oz - a fairly heavy, substantial piece!
