Henkel & Grosse is a German company that has been around since 1907 and has made jewelry for Christian Dior. This is an elegant necklace bearing their own mark and includes a metal hangtag. Made of nine curved, rectangular plaques, open in the middles, with smooth, horseshoe shapes on each end. The remaining plaque surfaces are textured in a design resembling four twisted ropes. There is a three-link extension chain with an elongated drop, and it closes with a spring-ring clasp. The metal on the back of the necklace is smooth, for comfortable wearing. It is gold tone metal, though it may well be gold-plated, as are many of the Henkel & Grosse items. This is an easy necklace to wear, and the slightly curved rectangles accentuate the neck very well.

It is 14 ½” long, including the extension chain. Plaques are just over 1/4” north-south by just under ½” east-west and are 1/8” thick. The clasp works very well. It is marked “GROSSE” with a copyright symbol in a circular cartouche on the back of one of the plaques, and there is also a metal hangtag with the crowned “G” symbol on the front and I presume style number on the back. It is attached with a fine metallic cord. This necklace is in excellent vintage condition.
