This wonderful pair of little joined fur or pin clips is from a series done by Coro in the early 1940s as tie-ins to the animated film “Dumbo.” Similar pieces can be seen in Brunialti’s book “Tribute to America,” pp. 76-77. Made of gold plated metal, both the Circus Master and Dumbo are decorated with cold enamel details of white, red, and dark blue. The two fur clips are joined by a fine chain. Dumbo is marked on the back W.D.P (for Walt Disney Productions) preceded by a copyright symbol. This precious pair would be a fine addition to the collection of any Disney, Coro, or elephant collector.

Circus Master is 1 ½” tall by ¾” wide by ¼” deep. Dumbo is 1” tall by ¾” wide by ½” deep. Connecting chain is 3 ½” long. There are some fine cracks in the plating and enamel on both figures. There is a little loss of enamel on the Circus Master’s hat. Dumbo is missing some enamel on his toes and also some plating on the front and back of one ear and on the very end of his trunk. The chain is missing plating on 3 links. The clip mechanisms on both are tight and in good working condition. Dumbo is marked as noted above. There are no Coro markings on this piece, but it is undoubtedly from the Coro Dumbo series. Over all, this chatelaine is in good vintage condition.
