SALE Georg Jensen Denmark Sterling Swirl Shell Tie Bar Clasp--1950s

This is an elegant sterling silver tie bar or clasp from Georg Jensen, which was purchased in Denmark by the original owner in the early 1950s. I understand that it was designed by Henry Pilstrup. The central element is an oval swirl or whorl centered in a rectangular cartouche. I like the way the organic, swirling center offsets the straight, man-made lines of the rest of the piece. This would make a special gift for a special fellow!

Length east to west is 2 ¼". Width north to south is 3/8". Depth is ¼". It is marked with Georg Jensen in a dotted oval, which dates it to post 1945. It is also marked "Sterling Denmark" and "76" (the style number). This piece was previously worn and loved and shows some wear--there are a couple of nicks on one edge near the folded-over section of the tie bar (see photos). It has a nice, warm patina and is in very good vintage condition.
