This is an elegant sterling silver tie bar or clasp from Georg Jensen, which was purchased in Denmark by the original owner in the early 1950s. I understand that it was designed by Henry Pilstrup. The central element is an oval swirl or whorl centered in a rectangular cartouche. I like the way the organic, swirling center offsets the straight, man-made lines of the rest of the piece.
