This is a neat example of mourning jewelry. This type of jewelry was popular in the early 1800's to late 1800's. Pieces were commonly made for friends or family members in memory of the deceased. This piece is a nice tightly woven dark brown hair ring with a center gold finding which is etched and monogrammed with A.B. in script. The gold finding could be genuine gold or gold filled. Under close observation with a loupe... I could not find any evidence of wear meaning it could be genuine gold. The ring measures about an 8- 8 1/2. It is in fantastic condition.
