This brilliant platinum ring is just stunning on.

According to an appraisal done in 2004, "The platinum ring is designed with a scalloped top featuring 3 round brilliant cut diamonds. The edge is trimmed with a row of 18 single-cut accent diamonds.

The center diamond is .43ct. (I color, SI-1 clarity). The two side diamonds total .84ct. and are H/J color and VS clarity as are the single cut diamonds which total .25ct.

When appraised, platinum was $519 oz. It is now over $1200 oz!

An important thing I've learned as I learned more about antique and vintage jewelry is that you need to get an appraiser that specializes in this area as there is intrinsic value in old jewelry. This appraisal was done by someone specializing in modern jewelry. She appraised another modern piece for me with smaller diamonds in white gold and valued it for over $1000 more! The appraisal says this ring is from the 50's, but most rings from this period have round diamonds prong set into a square setting. This ring has a lot of millgraining and rounded motifs. I think it is late deco (round brilliant diamonds were first cut in 1915). I'm primarily including the appraisal for the description and weight of the stones.

Regardless, it is a spectacular piece of workmanship. This is a different take on the past, present and future rings you see so much of.

The ring weighs 3.5 grams and is marked 900 PLAT 100 IRID and is currently a size 5.75.
