What a splendid patina this bracelet has acquired over the 100-odd years of its existence. Age has ripened the brass to a golden glow and given it a sensuous silky smoothness that makes you want to pet it, as it were. Then again, after I got my new glasses, I suspect the golden glow is actually worn rolled gold, the remnants of which have blended right into the brass. The 5mm faux turquoise cabochons form flowers atop highly detailed Gothic castings, the predominant style during the second half of the 19th century for everything from houses to furniture, and these are soldered to the brass plates that form the five links. The bracelet closes with a lovely box clasp, intricately etched with a classic Victorian floral motif. It's a chunky 1-1/4" wide x about 7" long, which will fit a smaller wrist due to the bulk of the bracelet. As far as condition goes, this one's off the rating charts ~ is it in fair condition because the gold is so worn, or do you feel, as I do, that age and wear have made it something even better than excellent? No markings.
