Talk about Jewels of Fantasy! As if the 1939 Coro Carmen Miranda bracelet (last picture below) weren't fabulous enough, Vendome designer Helen Marion decided to push the envelope and designed this updated version for Coro's high-end subsidiary Vendome, featuring enormous pave rhinestone wild roses with goldtone leaves that appear carved on both front and back with a scintillating mosaic of assorted shapes of large, brilliant red aurora borealis stones to either side. Not a single millimeter is left unadorned; even the pushbutton that makes the clasp spring open is encrusted with crystal rhinestones. Apparently this piece is even rarer than the Coro original, as I have been unable to find it anywhere, in books or on the Web, while at least two instances of the Coro bracelet are listed for sale on other sites. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking, except to say that the bracelet is 1-1/2" wide, fits the average sized wrist, and is in like-new condition ~ I would say mint if I hadn't had to re-set several of the stones that had come loose after some 40 years of disuse!
