At least I think they're pastes, but just now I googled "types of antique necklaces" and came up with an early 18th century choker of diamonds, and dammit if those diamonds didn't look just like the white open-backed stones in the center of the flowers that make up the curving sides of this gorgeous piece. But since the early diamonds were set with many prongs and these have only four, we'll go with rock crystal and leave it at that. The huge, unfoiled red stones were represented to me as red zircons but are probably glass or some kind of synthetic rubies ~ they're a very bright red, and red zircons tend to be much darker.
