These classic Haskell clips' previous owner had given these up for dead but some crazy person came thrashing through the underbrush just in the nick of time and gave her a dollar for them, snickering all the way home when she saw that yes, indeed, behind those sludgy settings were a pair of perfect baroque pearl cabs. It took some serious, and seriously painful, elbow grease to polish the settings free of verdigris and that black gunk that somehow grinds itself into old metal (yes, I know I could have done it with a Dremel, but I don't have the right bits for it, one of those things I mean to buy but forget about the moment I cross the threshold of Lowe's). The result of all this hand-polishing is a nifty antique gold, which is exactly what it is, not an artificial patina but naturally aged 24K plating on brass. The earrings measure just over 3/4" in diameter and are in good functional condition too ~ the clips could use tightening with a Comfee Key ~ I can't lay my hands on mine at the moment, so I've reduced the price accordingly ~, and if you don't have one, look at my Favorite Links and you'll see sellers of Comfee Keys right there. They cost about 2 bucks and every clip earring lover needs one (or, if you're like me and can make things disappear just by looking at them, two or three) and are well worth the investment.
