Early Victorian 16k Gold Memorial Brooch, Pearl Border and original Tin Type Photo, Opens!

This all original memorial brooch contains a hand tinted tin type 19th century photo, a scrap of the pictured gentleman's suit, and a piece of the jewelers advertisement card backing the photo inside! The lettering reminds me of wild west "wanted"posters!

The condition is excellent. All pearls appear to be original and have fabulous luster. I love the settings, similar to cut down collets, but with many prong like ridges. The photo is clear and crisp. It has a slight crease near the bottom, but is otherwise in original condition, as if it were developed yesterday. The bevelled crystal covers are still present, with only minor scuffing. If you wish, you can remove the contents of the brooch and place your own memento- a scrap of clothing, a photo, or hair tied with a ribbon. I would suggest that the new owner save the original contents though, for historical reasons.

It is nicely sized at 1 1/2" by 1 1/4". If you wish, my jeweler can add a well made, collapsible swivel bale in 14k so that it could be worn as a pendant! Please inquire. Jeweler tested as at least 16k. Lovely patina!
