The design is long and graceful (they measure just shy of 2 and 1/2" in length). The shapes bring to mind a constellation of crescent moons and stars. The construction is such that each descending level moves with the wearer, creating a cascade of fiery brilliance.

This was particularly important in the candle-lit interiors of the Nineteenth Century. These gems catch the light and sparkle with an elegance that transcends time.

Their length and grace are indicative of the earrings worn by discerning women during a formal dinner or lavish cotillion. Judging from the re-enforcements done to the jump rings in antiquity, their original owner had quite the social life!
