This piece features a particularly desirable Egyptian winged scarab motif. During this period, Victorians were fascinated with the archaeological discoveries of the time, and this was reflected in the jewelry of the more sophisticated, worldly women of this era.
The pendant ring neatly tucks away when it is worn as a brooch, thanks to the tiny hinge mechanism. It measures 1 3/8" wide by !" long. There is a hook shape at the bottom center of the piece, indicating that it was used as a watch holder, but it certainly stands well on its own. The is evidence of reinforcement in this area (see picture of back) which is completely invisible from the front. A great piece, probably one of a kind and certainly rare!
