Watercolor on paper, 17" by 9 3/8" (23 1/2" x 15 1/2" as framed/matted), signed at lower right "L. Lewis/95". This is a classic scene of rural England, showing leafy trees, a creek or small river with a man fishing in the foreground from a skiff, and some other gentlemen in the middle distance with their rowboat, as well as cows and a small tower in the distance. The artist is GEORGE LENNARD LEWIS (1826-1913). He exhibited in Victorian England and apparently according to the Benezit reference work, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London has his work in its collection. The watercolor is ready for the wall. It's in excellent shape, the colors not faded, and no foxing or water staining. The frame is modern and functional if not exciting. Note the manually typed older label on reverse. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS NOW IN MY SHOP.
