For a lady's dressing area or bedroom perhaps, here's a sweet original painting of a young woman, in watercolor, in the style of Charles Gibson, the famous illustrator in early 20th century America who created ink drawings of young women, who have come to be called "Gibson Girls". The style was widely copied in the first quarter of the century, sometimes quite successfully. This is such a work. It measures 13 1/2" by 10 1/2" in an oval shape, in a narrow frame. Written on the reverse in old pencil is "A. D. 1953 41 yrs./Made in St. Jo, Mo. about--1906/And presented to Anna Preller/1953---Presented to Bessie Hamilton/By Captain and Mrs. J. Preller". So, this was a carefully handed down heirloom. It is in superb condition for its age, the colors not faded, and no foxing nor water staining. The frame has a bit of damage at the 6 o'clock position, having been dinged evidently and then an amateurish attempt was made to repair it. I think it could be sanded, filled and repaired again very easily if it be an issue to you. Allow for reflections in one photo which suggests a horizontal line that doesn't exist.
