Classic New Mexico scene of budding cloud, behind distant mountains and an adobe huddling under a cottonwood tree, signed at lower right by artist EDWARD L. FERNSTEN. Size is 9 1/2" by 7 1/2" (13 1/2" by 11 1/2" as framed). I don't know much on the artist, as an internet search shows only a brief mention of him and his business dealings in Lincoln County, N.M., but he was certainly skilled, in the manner of a Gene Kloss or George Elbert Burr. Condition appears to be excellent. Written at lower left under the image in pencil is "D-71-25-13", the significance of which I do not know.
