RARE Currier and Ives original lithograph 1871 print "The Route to California/Truckee River, Sierra Nevada"

This is a rare and desirable print for the Currier or Railroadiana collector, showing relatively higher value in Cohenour's price guide. The condition is very compromised, the entire sheet currently measuring 11" by 14 1/4" (with irregular cut edges). The print has darkened considerably, possibly from having been varnished at some time, and there is a 2" tear at top center extending into the image, and a 3/4" similar tear at bottom center, as well as several other small tears in the image and at edges. A paper restorer could probably work wonders but of course that is expensive work. This is definitely an original 19th century print and not a repro. The hand coloring is still present despite the darkened surface. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates.
