Gouache on paper, intentionally extending into the mat, measuring 7 1/4" by 9 3/8" plus 1 1/2" mat, signed at lower left, "ROWBURY". This is a contemporary western American painting of indian tipis on a plain fronting the mountains of (most likely) Colorado, Wyoming, or Montana. The artist is listed and some pieces have sold at auction. This is a skilfully executed work. It's exceptionally detailed, and the style reminds me of the style of Michael Coleman. The paint extending into the mat is rather unusual and gives the scene great convincing depth. It's in fabulous condition. The frame is also in fine condition. This is absolutely ready for the wall.
