Watercolor on paper, vertical format at 17 1/2" by 6 1/2" plus one inch likely original frame, circa early 20th century, signed at lower right by listed Midwest artist VICTOR CASENELLI. Casenelli is best known for his Henry Farny or John Hauser-style western paintings of indians and tipis and horses, and those works generally bring the highest prices at auction. From Michigan, he obviously knew the woodlands as well, as is demonstrated by this beautifully executed work on paper. The watercolor is fresh and not faded and there's no foxing. There might be a tiny water drip at lower left but it could date to the creation of the painting by the artist. Extremely minor in any event. Irregularity evident in photo of signature is on the glass. Old early twentieth century frame goes perfectly with this work. Shipping wizard figures are guesstimates.
