Original pencil on paper with some red colored pencil highlights, 9" by 23 5/8" (the paper, not including the black board to which the artwork is affixed), showing the classic Woody Woodpecker wearing an apron and wielding a dust mop, in three separate drawings. The art is signed at lower right "Walter Lantz". Lantz (1900-1994) created the Woody character, legend has it, when a woodpecker kept him awake in his honeymoon cottage by pecking incessantly on the roof. See google for detailed and fascinating information on the complete history of the character and other characters created by Lantz. I am not a specialist in comic or cartoon art but I can tell you that this is original pencil on paper, laid on a thin board which is itself presently affixed to a black matting board. The drawings span two pieces of paper joined down the middle, with punched holes along the bottom, as if to be placed in a binder for storage and viewing. The piece is generally in clean and presentable condition, with only very slight aging of the paper (hard to say when the art might have been created), and a few minor edge crimps, at the very edges/corners. It is protected by a thin sleeve of protective plastic which I will try to push aside for photography, but some photos might be taken through this, so allow for reflection. Below the left image is written "TR-12"; below the central one, "TR 161 FEET" (??). The red pencil was used to draw the feet on the left and central image, and the motion of the mop at right. Some images show pronounced yellowish colors. Upon close inspection for some reason some of the areas within the lines on Woody are slightly yellowish, but the photos definitely exaggerate that yellow. Email me with questions, and to get MORE PHOTOS. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER PAINTINGS/PRINTS IN MY SHOP.
