This is the original cartoon art (5" by 16 3/4") for the daily strip of June 26, year unknown, by well known figure in American cartoon art scene MERRILL BLOSSER (1892-1983). Blosser drew the comic strip for over 50 years, from 1915 to 1965. He started professionally in 1912 at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, worked for Motor Cycling Magaizine, and contributed to Denton Publishing in Cleveland. Check the net for voluminous information on Blosser and his contribution to American illustration and cartoon art. CONDITION: Glass has been removed. The piece is browned overall with age. Some of the edges are browned as well. The piece shows buckling when viewed from the back in raking light, but this is not obvious when viewing from the front. This came out of the estate of Lyne Metcalfe in Greenwich, CT (note dedication added to the original art: "With sincere gratitude + best wishes to Lyne Metcalfe from his friend Bloss".
