One of three paintings I'm offering by the artist, this is a highly finished work, I think in tempera somehow highlighted with a protective slightly glossy coating of some type, the Crescent art board measuring 14" by 18" (framed 21 1/2" by 27 1/4"), signed at lower right "Alberto Meza" and dated there "74". The subject is a pair of wild turkeys walking through a brushy arid landscape (note the cacti at left---perhaps somewhere like west Texas). The artist's skill in drawing and coloring the feathers and grasses is outstanding. It would be easy to think this is a print, but I guarantee it to be an original work. When viewed at an angle one can see how the artist used a special glaze or varnish especially on the turkeys and grasses/brush in the center of the composition, in order to create a more realistic effect. I cannot find information on the artist and would welcome anyone's input should they have information on him. Condition is excellent, though due to deteriorated old tape holding it in place, the work has slipped down and I've had to remove it for photography, so, the purchaser will need to take this to a framer for remounting.
