One of three paintings I'm offering by the artist, this is a highly finished work, I think in tempera somehow highlighted with a protective slightly glossy coating of some type, 16" by 21" on a Crescent artist board (25 1/2" by 30 1/4" in its wood frame with linen liner), signed at lower left "Alberto Meza" and dated there "79". The subject is a nesting pair of wood ducks, the drake at left on a snag and his "wife" sitting contentedly on the eggs in a tuft of grasses above the water line. The artist shows a sensitivity and reverence towards his subject and explores the monumentality of such a natural and wondrous subject. His skill in drawing and coloring the feathers and grasses is outstanding. It would be easy to think this is a print, but I guarantee it to be an original work. I cannot find information on the artist and would welcome anyone's input should they have information on him. Condition is excellent, though the work has slipped down and I've had to remove it for photography, so, the purchaser will need to take this to a framer for remounting.
