About Us
On a trip to England six years ago to buy furniture I purchased several Edwardian necklaces. Little did I know that I would receive compliments whenever I wore them, and that friends and family would want to buy them. So I went back and purchased more, signed up for a booth at an antiques show and before I knew it was operating a burgeoning business! Two years ago I left my job in public relations to devote more time to the antiques business.
I learned by doing. I bought books on antique and vintage costume jewelry, attended seminars and exchanged information with colleagues. My background in art helped. Having received a Masters of Fine Art from Pratt Institute with a minor in art history, I wrote my thesis on Art Nouveau design. Also, my grandparents and parents were a great influence, the former collecting European antiques and paintings, and the later, early collectors of Civil War antiques.
My lifelong admiration for all things well-designed, my experience in writing and marketing, and a natural curiosity to discover how things are made and where they come from have all come together. Now my heart skips a beat when in my travels I find a beautiful Art Deco sautoir or a 1940s sterling gold vermeil retro pin. I believe in lifelong learning and so enjoy sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Finally, I'm grateful for the many customers who appreciate my taste.
I have lectured about costume jewelry as part of the Antiques and Appraisal Series sponsored by the New Castle Historical Society at the Chappaqua Library.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have. I'm always happy to share what I know. Looking forward to hearing from you!
