Very decorative hand-made box. Beautifully decorated in chinoiserie design which was very popular in Europe in the 19th Century.
Superb black lacquer to finish; fabulous hand applied gilding featuring buddhistic lions. Complete with original internal tray.
These beautiful little boxes were generally used for sewing but of course can be put to many uses
Extremely decorative and in very good condition throughout; no damage to lacquer; minor rubbing to gilding here and there.
Dating from circa 1900
