This painting came from the estate of Lars Onsager, the winner of the 1968 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He was a Norwegian who taught at Yale - among other places. He also won the Rumford medal and the Lorentz medal. The painting is signed in a "Petroglyph" style. I do not know the artist's name. The painting looks dark and odd, but it really grows on you as you learn to see it. Measures 16 5/8" wide and 10 1/4" high and the frame is 19 1/4" by 13".
