An elegant late eighteenth century cube-shaped Georgian tea caddy of superb quality. The fleur-de-lis brass joints lend the box a visual ideal of strength and beauty. The veneer has a deep ox-blood/brier root feel. I am not sure what kind of wood it is. It's condition is excellent. It was found in England, and of course that meant the brass was polished...except one side was missed. The pin sits nicely in the lock and the lock works. Time has been kind to this piece with the exception of a split in the bottom and a small (1/8" high by 1/2" long) piece of missing veneer on the far bottom edge of the box under the key. It does have one brass nail-head replacement. The rest are original. The measurements are:8" Wide, 5 1/8" Deep and 5 7/8" High.
