This painting came from the estate of Lars Onsager, the winner of the 1968 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He was a Norwegian who taught at Yale - among other places. He also won the Rumford medal and the Lorentz medal. The painting is signed in a "Petroglyph" monogram style. I do not know the artist's name. A very intriguing work of art.. Measures 16 5/8" wide and 10 1/4" high and the frame is 19 1/4" by 13".

This is a great Black Forest clock. The detailed carving is handsome and the craftsmanship is fantastic. Notice the texture and perfect layers of the birds feathers or the details on the rabbit. The hunting horn and game bag on the bottom and the dog head on the top really make this a "wow" piece. Found in France. c.early 1900's. Measures 30.5" high, 20" wide and 6" deep. The numbers are enamel and it does have the winding key.

This fabulous teapot was made by the German silversmith Heinrich Anthon Schauenburg who was active in Hamburg from 1816 till at least 1857. Note the beautiful Lion's head spout, floral designs and wooden handle and top. Smashingly equal to some of London's top silversmilths. These 17th century brass sticks are Colonial Dutch. They have a nice weight and the rich patina is great - they have not been polished in a very long time. Both have a midway drip pan and domed feet. They are not a perfect pair...they are quite similar, but the feet etc. are a bit different. One is 7 1/4" High by 3 5/8" and the other is 7 1/8" High by 3 3/4" Wide. In 2007, Northeast Auctions sold a larger pair for $2350 in their August Americana sale. Item #1471.

The bead work on this stool is amazing. I'd hate to think of how long it took to make it! The gold leave and nut side pattern is made from boiled leather that was clamped into a mold until dry.
