Cut into the shape of an Aztec Indian and then intricately stamped and etched this money clip is marked with the silhouetted Eagle used from 1955 through the early 1970’s. There is a 90 on the Eagles chest which could indicate the city it was made in or an individual maker. In the case of this piece it would indicate the city because it also has the initials of the silversmith. Unfortunately a complete listing of these numbers has never been made. I have a Silver Jewelry book that has a partial listing; even they say a complete list is not available; and the 90 is not among those they have identified.
The bar of this clip is stamped Hechoen Mexico DE925GZH. I am not sure what the DE represents but of course the 925 is the grade of sterling and the GZH would be the initials of the silversmith.
Our money clip is in excellent condition and measures 2” long by 1 ¼” wide.
