Offered is a beautiful pair of very tall Satsuma Kyoto vases from the early 1900's. The vases depict lavishly dressed Samurai warriors done in a moriage, or raised-slip, floral and leaf motif. The creamy beige color ground is accented with deep orange/red and subtle green colors with heavy gilding. The pair were acquired from an estate sale in Long Island NY, It's rare to find a pair. The un-marked vases measure 18 1/2" tall, 6 1/4" wide and have a top opening of 3 1/4". With the wooden stands the vases are 20 1/2" tall. There are no chips or cracks in either vase. They look to have once had gold gilding around the tops that has since all but worn off. There is some gold wear in a few other places, But it's very hard to notice and take a picture of and is certainly age appropriate. The vases are absolutely gorgeous! and will make a statement in any space.
