We are pleased to offer this beautiful pink sandwich server with the center handle by Lancaster Glass Co. Lancaster was started in 1908, Hocking Glass acquired controlling interest in Lancaster in 1924 and eventually dissolved the Lancaster name by 1937 after completing the final purchase. However, the name Lancaster and their exquisitely-made pieces live on. The 'Open work pattern was produced by Lancaster through 1935. Open Work served as a basis for Hocking's 'Old Colony' (1935-1938), which was made in pink and crystal. 'Open Work' was produced in 7 different colors. Original Lancaster pieces can be differentiated from Old Colony by flipping the rim with your finger. Open work has a beautiful ring to it where as old colony makes a clunk sound. The sandwich or serving plate measures 11" and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. No roughness on the edges. This is a wonderful piece of true Lancaster fine glass ware. It would be a great addition to an 'Old colony' collection as well. The colors in the pictures vary as two were used with a flash the other 2 without.
