This is a lovely example of Victorian jewelry. Whether the stone is glass, jet or onyx I am not sure. There are 3 loops at the base of the pin where 3 charms would hang. The Victorians would have hung small mementos from them.Ever the sentimentalists they incorporated small items from every day life. Sea shells, charms even carved wood had special meanings to them. The old fashioned C clasp and pin stick are in good working order. It measures 1-1/8" x 7/8''. There is a small amount of light surface scratching consistent with age. I think this is a great old keepsake and very wearable.
