For the Pagans it was a symbol to represent the sun and the different lines are for the suns rays. So whether you celebrate Christmas or the Winter Solstice the cross has a true meaning of spirituality. This is a beautiful old cross to represent your own beliefs. I believe it to be from the Art Deco Era (1930s-1940s). It is marked 1/20 12k G.F. on the cross and chain. There are ornate engravings on the front and an x in a box on the middle of the back.It measures 1/14" x 3/4". The chain which I do not know if it is original is 16". It is in good condition.
