What a gorgeous antique, hand made crochet and lace bonnet. The bonnet is made of beautiful crochet medallions consisting of very intricate coiled thread design, which in turn connect to a little coiled circle in the center. These are all attached with very fine tatting in a dainty little design. All around the outer brim of the bonnet is scalloped crochet from which cascades more crochet work, done with a fine silk thread. Escaping from this are two rows of lace, one consisting of a lovely floral applique lace and the other a truly delicate net lace which is also entirely scalloped along the outer edge and enhanced with little flowers. This same lace is abundantly gathered all along the back neck section. On either side of the bonnet are hand made ribbon flowers, a beautiful green ribbon bow decorated with little glass pearls and finally a little gathered cream ribbon from which the ties emerge. The ties are made of an intricate silk trim which is knotted at the end. Except for a little discoloration in the medallions due to age, which does not detract from its beauty, this bonnet is just gorgeous and would be a wonderful addition to your doll's bonnet wardrobe. Emma, who is my model, has a head circumference of 12 inches - and approximately another 1/2 inches for her wig and while it may be a little large, I think it looks wonderful on her. Depending on the look you would like, this bonnet would fit comfortably on a doll with a head circumference of up to 15 inches - plus another 1/2 inches for her wig. This a truly beautiful and rare antique bonnet and would make a wonderful addition to your dollie's wardrobe.
