This SUPERB Pinocchio, circa 1939, was designed by the AMAZING artist Joseph Kallus, for Walt Disney, and made by the Knickerbocker Toy Company. He is near mint, and the best example of this toy that I have ever seen. He still has the original perfect hang tag attached to his wrist.
Pinocchio's friend and conscience, Jiminy Cricket, also designed by Kallus and made by Knickerbocker, is approximately 10 inches in height, and he is circa 1939. Jiminy is composition, and is jointed, with adorable "starfish" hands in yellow gloves. He is a scare toy, and in excellent condition. He is wearing the original waistcoat with tails, vest, and hat, with the hat showing more wear than the rest of the outfit.
Jiminy has two open craze lines on his lower legs, but they are not raised, There is a craze mark on the of his head, that has separated slightly, but it has not lifted or curled. There is a small pinhole between his nostrils.
They have been together for years, so are being sold together. You will not be disappointed with these toys.
For purposes of identification, Jiminy Cricket may be seen FEATURED on the front cover, and on page 86 of Michele Karl's great book, "Composition & Wood Toys and Dolls." Pinocchio of course, still retains his original tag.
