This little mahogany obsidian butterfly is just waiting for a new home where it will be treasured and passed down to succeeding generations.

The 6mm round, reddish brown with black accent, mahogany obsidian and High Quality, 3mm 14kt gold filled beads make this a very warm and noticeable piece of special jewelry which will bring you showers of complements! The mahogany obsidian beads look like a fine piece of high polished mahogany furniture. They gleam like glass because they are actually volcanic glass that has cooled before it can crystallize.

The matching gemstone hand carved butterfly is suspended from a High Quality, 14kt gold filled bail. The custom designed, High Quality, 14kt gold filled s-clasp; with its tiny matching bead, adds the final dimension.

Each gemstone bead has been meticulously hand mitered to smooth out the interior, then double hand knotted between using an ancient traditional method. No quick knot tools are ever used in any of my jewelry items. The double knotting protects the beads from rubbing against one another and provides a security not found in today's manufactured jewelry.

And, for this piece, I choose black thread to bring out the black veining of the Mahogany obsidian beads. The thread is a special silk which has been bonded with nylon to reduce fraying and stretching. The entire piece has been designed to last a lifetime and beyond. The end result is breathtaking.

This necklace measures 20 inches from end to end and 10 ½ inches from clasp to the end of the pendant when held together lengthwise. Always remember that I can make any necklace any length you desire for your particular needs. It can be made with an easy open, hook and eye clasp, or with no clasp in a longer over-the-head style.
