The inspiration for this striking necklace is my Mom who will be 98 years old this coming March. Aquamarine is her birthstone. And, in all of her years, no one ever gave her a gift bearing her birthstone. I designed a longer, 24 inch one for her. It turned out so very lovely, that I just had to offer a shorter one here on Ruby Lane.

The Swarovski rhinestone 4mm, 6mm and 8 mm bicone beads are Aurora Borealis coated for maximum reflection.

The beads have been meticulously and time consuming double, hand knotted between each bead with matching aquamarine thread. As my mother taught me to work with thread and my hands from the age of 5, I felt it fitting to hand knot this design. I believe in making the thread a very important part of the overall design. I never use any quick knot tools and this gives you a very secure knot and true hand fashioned piece.

The cord used is a silk which is bonded onto a nylon base for strength with no stretch but allows for a beautiful lay of the finished piece on your body.

The high quality .925 sterling silver and ancient Roman crystal glass cross pendant measures 44 x 35mm. Ancient Roman crystal glass comes from the Holy Land and surrounding areas. It is found primarily in archeological digs and then the shards of glass are incorporated into fine jewelry pieces by local craftsmen, who are among the finest in the world. When you turn the cross over, you can touch and feel the ancient crystal. The crystal also picks up the colors reflected by the Swarovski crystal beads and makes for a very elegant piece designed to bring many complements. They are a true treasure to be passed down to generations.

The necklace is finished off with a suitable 20-gage high quality, .925 Sterling Silver easy to operate hook and eye clasp. Should you desire something different, just email or call me.

This necklace measures slightly over 18 inches from end to end. The necklace hangs a little over 10 ¾ inches to the base of the cross pendant.
