AT AUCTION Royal Copenhagen Blue Flowers Compote, c1960
A compote in the Blue Flower pattern. I learned which researching that the Blue Flower pattern represents Denmark's most beautiful flowers in Royal Copenhagen's distinctive shade of blue. The pattern dates from 1779 and was redesigned and given its present form about one hundred years ago. Royal Copenhagen Blue Flower is painted completely by hand and the technique and the hand painting remain the same from then till present time, with the only changes in decoration due to the artistry of the artist who, by tradition, has the freedom to design the bouquet to his or her taste. Thus, every piece is unique. This beautiful compote is signed on both upper and lower parts and stands 6 1/2" high x 9 1/2" in diameter. All pieces are assembled, painted and glazed by hand in the fine style and quality one expects from the famous Royal Copenhagen. From 1960, it is in excellent, pristine condition.
