Delightfully charming urchins gleefully playing their music for all to enjoy! Each shellaced 5" figure is mounted in a deep hardwood 9.5" x 6.5" frame. The background is textured deep forest green to best accent the creamy finish of the solid mold figurine. I have been fortunate enough to see sets of two figures (usually Victorian or Edwardian ladies and gents) but never have I found a complete set of four framed pieces. This set is not only charming but expertly detailed and superbly finished. The solid mold technique allows for suprising depth and fascinating detail. The rich patina of age adds to the appeal. Produced by the MPF Co. of California, these plaster-of-Paris creations exemplify the transition of a nearly lost folk art medium to fine decorative art. The grouping is in absolutely amazingly well preserved condition with only a handful of tiny flakes among all four. Unique, complete and lovingly annotated on each reverse side "With love to Bertie from Harry".
