This is a fabulous ice bucket decorated by Cera with a bar graph showing the rise in the price of gold from 1969-1978. It is titled "Ten Year Gold Cash Price London," and shows how the price of gold skyrocketed after the U.S. Treasury stopped selling gold to industry for $35 an ounce in 1968. The graph has a timeline that shows important events such as the Treasury raising the price of gold in 1972 and 1973, and then in 1974 U.S. citizens were permitted to own gold for the first time since 1934. Other shifts in the market are shown, and the end mark is Oct. 30, 1978, when gold hit a high of $242.75 an ounce...which is cheap today! This ice bucket has a clear lucite plastic lid and handle. It is 8 1/4" high and 7 1/2" wide, in excellent condition. This is a great gift for a history buff, a jeweler, or economist!
